C3iHub and University Partners Launch Mass Cyber Security Vocational Initiative

The C3iHub technology innovation center at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has partnered with regional universities and incubation foundations to roll out a nationwide cyber security vocational training program. Designed to equip higher education students with job-ready technical skills, the vocational curriculum aims to reach over 300,000 students across more than 570 affiliated colleges. The initiative provides practical training in ethical hacking, network defense, threat intelligence, and cloud security protocols. Democratizing Cybersecurity Education Across Regional Higher Education In a major initiative to build grassroots digital resilience, C3iHub—the cybersecurity technology innovation hub at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur)—has partnered with Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University (DBRAU) in Agra and the Vivekanand Incubation Foundation (VIF) to launch a mass vocational program in cybersecurity. The joint academic initiative aims to reach more than 300,000 students spread across 570 affiliated colleges, delivering foundational digital safety training at scale. Designed as an inclusive, non-technical vocational offering open to all undergraduate streams rather than engineering specialists alone, the curriculum addresses fundamental aspects of digital safety, personal data protection, and online fraud prevention. Delivered entirely online and in Hindi, the course removes traditional language barriers that have historically restricted specialized cybersecurity education to English-medium institutions. Practical Curriculum and Customized Virtual Cyber Ranges The six-month program combines core theoretical knowledge with real-world technical application designed by experts at IIT Kanpur. Key instructional modules cover everyday cyber hygiene, social media safety, identity theft mitigation, data breach prevention, dark web risks, and legal frameworks surrounding cybercrime. To complement classroom concepts, C3iHub provides customized virtual labs directly through students' devices, enabling hands-on practice in simulated environment scenarios. While C3iHub manages curriculum development and practical lab access, the Vivekanand Incubation Foundation oversees the administrative and digital infrastructure required to deliver the coursework seamlessly across regional college networks. Institutional Support and Long-Term Digital Security The formalization of the partnership—marked by an official Memorandum of Understanding signed by senior leadership from IIT Kanpur, DBRAU, and VIF—establishes institutional frameworks to support long-term student welfare. As part of the broader collaboration, DBRAU is establishing a dedicated Cybersecurity Counselling Cell (CCC) on campus to offer real-time guidance, incident support, and threat mitigation for students targeted by online fraud or harassment. University administrators emphasized that foundational cyber skills are no longer optional technical electives, but essential life skills required across all academic disciplines. By embedding practical cybersecurity instruction into general higher education, the initiative establishes a scalable framework to protect young internet users and strengthen national cyber defenses.
